You've probably heard by now that the most successful and productive people wake up at 5 am or earlier. And if you are like me you are probably thinking I can't get up that early! Honestly I did to.. I was never a morning person and loved sleeping more than breathing, I still love sleeping in. But with practice you can turn your sleeping in "bad habit" into a 5 am "good habit" within 21 days. Yes, in order for a habit to stick it takes 21 days. A lot of these tips come from a great book " The Miracle Morning" which helped me with my morning routine and starting my day early. So mark your calendar and lets to this thing NOW!

A good morning starts with a good night routine.

Have your workout clothes laid out on your desk or near the door so you can change without the hesitation. I try my best to not have technology on after 9:30 and TV off by 10. When you are using technology the brain is stimulated and working hard to comprehend what you are watching. Elimating this an hour or 30 minutes before bed will help your brain calm down and settle in mentally, so you're not constantly tossing and turning trying to force yourself to sleep. Also to help me relax I will put on a nice soothing mask, do a few stretches, and a quick meditation. Once I lay down I thank God for my day and then I'm out like a light, ready to wake up refreshed!

Have a good mindset.

Some things to consider when waking up at 5 is understanding it will not be easy. But why do we wake up at 7 or 8 or 9? Because we "have to"? Well get that head on straight as well. Start believing you "have to" get up at 5 or you'll be late. Don't give yourself excuses and promise yourself to stop giving up on this one habit.

Put your phone away from your bed so you have to get out of bed.

Instead of rolling over in bed and hitting snooze have your phone or alarm clock on the other side of the room.

Make Your Bed

This is another trick I use because once your make your bed you're not going to want to mess it up again by snuggling back in.

Brush your teeth and wash your face immediately.

Minty fresh breath and cold water to the face usually does the trick for me.

Change into your workout clothes.

Get out of your cozy pjs and into some cute workout clothes that make your feel fabulous!

Drink a big cup of water.

Get a boost of energy with some cold water. You lose a lot of hydration while sleeping so

before you make your coffee drink your water! Squeeze some lemon juice for extra health benefits.

Do NOT go back into your bedroom.

This way you won't be tempted to lay back in bed and fall asleep. Finish your morning routine, workout, shower, and then you can enter your room.

And that's how you can wake up at 5 AM! Remember it takes 21 days for you to start a new habit. This won't be an easy task at first. Don't give up on yourself and if you sleep in one day, drop it and start fresh the next. You can do whatever you put your mind to. In a year from now you will thank yourself!
