The Best Morning Routine

You press snooze 5 times until you "have to get up" or you're going to be late for work. Not enough time for a shower so a little dry shampoo and messy bun it is! You quickly wash your face, brush your teeth, and grab a breakfast bar because a smoothie would take too long. And I guess you have to buy lunch today since there's no time for that either. You throw your work papers and computer in your bag and scramble to get out the door. Speeding down the highway with a little road rage because someone is taking their sweet time. During your rush you forgot to grab important papers off your desk and now you're so frustrated you throw the rest of the day out the window!
Doesn't reading that just give your body chills filled with anxiety? I had mornings like these all the time. I started to see it as my way of living. I loved sleeping in so much I NEVER wanted to get out of bed in the morning, so I kept on hitting snooze and rushing out the door. A lot of my anxiety came from being stressed from terrible morning routine, so I knew it was time to change that.
Win the morning, win the day!
The book The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod was recommended to me a few years ago. This book was more than someones morning step by step. It was a guide to accomplish all your goals and a way to set your day up for success. Today I'm still implementing these tips in my morning routine and has seen an amazing results with my anxiety, depression, and accomplishing my goals.
I wanted to share my daily routine that is inspired from the Miracle Morning to help you become the best version of yourself.
I try to wake up around 5 to 6AM to give myself time to relax and not rush through my morning. For tips on how to waking up early read my blog post How To Wake Up At 5AM.
I start my morning with some coffee or teami tea (use code BREEZY20 for a discount). I bring my phone, planner, journal and a book with me outside on my porch or I find a peaceful area in my house.
I set my phone to airplane mode so I'm not distracted and turn on a guided meditation for about 10 minutes.
Next I will set my timer to 30 minutes to read a self help book or a book that inspires/motivates me to be a better version of myself. To view that list check out the blog. To help me pay better attention to what I'm reading I will highlight quotes or phrase and sometimes even write them down in my journal.
After that, I take 10 minutes to write in my journal. I created my own version of journaling that includes gratitude, affirmations, positivity, and envisioning. It has helped me focus and zone in on what I want out of the day and the bigger picture, my future.
I set my timer for another 10 minutes to I plan out my day. I use my Project Evo planner or App for this process. Take the free brain test to see what planner you should be using for your brain type! I write down everything I need to get down and how long it should take. Starting with the most important ones first!
I workout for 30 minutes to an hour doing HIIT cardio, yoga, walking my dog and such. Something that is going to make me feel good!
After that I leave about 30 minutes to an hour to make a smoothie, shower (because I earned it), and get ready for the rest of the day.
That's my morning routine! All done before 8 am. Here is a little break down and schedule:
Meditate 10 minutes
Read 30 minutes
Journal & State Affirmations 10 minutes
Plan Day 10 minutes
Exercises for 30 minutes
Breakfast and Shower 30 minutes
And if I'm in a hurry or have a meeting earlier than planned here is my 1 hour version:
Meditate 10 minutes
Read 10 minutes
Journal/State Affirmations 10 minutes
Plan day 10 minutes
Exercise for 10 minutes (jumping jacks, pushups, sit-ups, etc)
Breakfast 10 minutes
Remember win the morning, win the day!
